This project aims to establish a sustainable mental health program in East Timor.
The Project has 4 main components: 1) National Mental Health Service Delivery which includes policy development and establishment of treatment protocols, standard practice guidelines, and a clinical information system; 2) Staff Development and Training which includes a train the trainer program, training for specialist mental health workers and for generalist health workers; 3) Mental health promotion and community participation that has a strong focus on encouraging communities and families to be involved in early intervention, health promotion and treatment of people with mental illness; and 4) Effective Project Management with a strong focus on skills transfer and capacity development.
